IHC SA is currently seeking to secure the services of a Project Manager in our Cape Town office. The Project Manager’s primary responsibility to manage the phases, activities and tasks associated with projects allocated to him/her, within specified time, cost and quality constraints, to deliver the required project outcome and achieve Client satisfaction. You will manage the Project Team and other resources assigned to the projects allocated to you on a project level and reports directly to the Project Engineering Manager.

Assist Project Engineering Manager to develop operational department year plan.
Setup project during enquiry and award stages respectively and appoint associated project teams.
Manage allocated projects and provide leadership and guidance to the project team.
Schedule and conduct a Project Kick-off meeting.
Obtain Client approval of the scope of supply, delivery schedule, price and commercial conditions.
Document the customer acceptance criteria for each project deliverable.
Develop and manage a Project Schedule outlining the sequence of activities and tasks.
Maintain the Project Budget based on the contract and finalised scope of supply.
Ensure required work packages are compiled for successful execution of the project.
Define all quality targets, standards, assurance and control procedures and document in a Quality Plan and ensure that adequate quality assurance and control techniques are undertaken to meet the quality targets specified in the Quality Plan.
Establish and maintain a clear communications plan between the project and the Client, and between the project and interdepartmental disciplines and external specialists.
Develop and manage project risks and mitigation plans as approved by the Project Engineering Manager.
Compile a HS&E Plan for the project and ensure required Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and other requirements are adhered to throughout the project phases.
Manage the execution of the project.
Monitor and control expenditure to ensure delivery within the approved project budget.
Communicate with supplier’s regarding technical issues and expediting.
Manage the approval of all project change requests and ensure that financial and schedule implications are considered and documented.
Obtain Client acceptance of each deliverable produced by the project.
Resolve all issues affecting the project and alert the Project Engineering Manager when it becomes apparent that the project constraints will not be met.
Ensure compliance with the configuration management system.
Manage the project proposal phase.
Manage the project design and engineering process to completion.
Manage all project procurement.
Manage the fabrication, assembly and delivery phases of the project.
Manage the installation and commissioning phases of the project to ensure takeover and handover.
Hard requirements:
B. Tech / B. Sc / B. Eng degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering;
10 -12 years of relevant project management experience.
Qualifications & Competencies:
Project Management qualification;
Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA;
Knowledge base and experience within the Mining, Oil and Gas, Mineral Processing or Heavy Engineering sectors;
Good organisational skills;
Ability to perform under pressure;
High attention to detail;
Managerial leadership ability;
Cross-functional leadership;
Willingness to work demanding schedule and flexible hours, including after hours, in order to meet required schedule;
Willingness to travel;
Operate as part of a team;
Disciplined – work with limited supervision;
Self-motivated, organized and results driven;
Computer literacy (Word, Excel, MS Project.); and
